I wouldn’t want to speculate on the X factor, football or services but as far as house prices are concerned, I could provide you with some inside information along with the views and statistics of one of our most prominent lenders, The Nationwide Building Society.

 

According to them, house prices are back to the levels of September 2008. 

 

This is hardly a surprise to the wise, who have always known that historically house prices tend to fluctuate but will always provide a good investment and capital growth.

 

In fact, the same source quotes that in Peterborough the % of change to prices in the past ten years quoted is + 113% !

 

Lincolnshire has enjoyed an even better ten years increase quoted at 129%

 

This all points to the long term viability of our housing market. The society go on to say in their report “The further increase in house prices is very much consistent with improvements in a broad range of economic and financial indicators over the past few months, all of which suggest that the most intense phase of the recession and financial crisis has probably passed”

 

It would be remiss of me not to point out that the “experts” quoted are broadly the same people who failed to spot the start of and reasons why the recession began in the first place but it is certainly refreshing to see and hear from other mediums as well as the Nationwide Building Society that things are certainly perceived to be picking up.
